Stokeshire Designer Doodles

Doodle Sizes:Weight and Height by Breed and Class.

A single, consistent framework for how big each doodle line grows, drawn to scale, with the bands every Stokeshire breeding decision answers to.

The Stokeshire Doodle Size Standard
Block 1 · The Standard

The canonical ladder,drawn to scale.

Six classes anchor every doodle line we breed. Heights are measured at the withers (top of the shoulder). Weights reflect typical adult ranges across our lines.

Stokeshire doodles arranged in ascending size from Toy through Ultra, shown in profile against a warm plaster wall on weathered oak flooring, with a five-foot-eight-inch woman at the right edge as a human scale reference for The Stokeshire Doodle Size Standard.

Adult size is typical, not guaranteed. Final size is confirmed at maturity and influenced primarily by the Poodle parent. Individual puppies may finish 15 to 20 percent above or below the band.

Block 2 · The Trust Differentiator

Who setsdoodle size standards.

If you are wondering why the same word means different things at different breeders, this is why.

The plain answer

The Goldendoodle Association of North America (GANA) holds the only widely recognized doodle size standard. It covers Goldendoodles. For Bernedoodle, Aussiedoodle, Australian Mountain Doodle, and Golden Mountain Doodle, no breed authority exists, and terminology varies widely between breeders.

Stokeshire follows GANA for Goldendoodles and publishes a consistent standard for the breeds GANA does not cover. The ladder above is that standard. Every Stokeshire breeding decision, litter announcement, and placement description maps to it.

Block 3 · Size by Breed

Which classeseach breed produces.

Each Stokeshire line covers a different subset of the ladder. Generation, the Poodle parent, and the cross influence what we can produce within a class.

Block 4 · Stokeshire Adult-Weight Dataset

What our dogsactually mature to.

Most size pages publish breeding-association guidelines. This section publishes our own. Real adult weight and height measurements from Stokeshire dogs that reached maturity, aggregated by breed and class. Updates as new dogs reach age two.

Stokeshire Adult-Weight Distribution by Class

This data table will be populated from Stokeshire’s breeding records and post-placement weight follow-ups as our matured dataset crosses the publishable sample threshold. Each row will reflect a class, the breeds it applies to, the median and 25th to 75th percentile adult weight observed in our lines, and the sample size.

Block 5 · Lifestyle Fit

Which sizefits your home.

The right tier is rarely the one a family arrives wanting. It is the one their household actually accommodates. Match the household, not the photo.

Toy
up to 15 lb · under 13 in

Best for apartments, frequent travel, and homes with mobility considerations. Fits under most airline cabin seats. Easiest to lift and easiest to live with in a small footprint.

Anchor: coffee-table height
Petite
16 to 25 lb · 12 to 15 in

A typical Petite doodle matures under the 25-pound ceiling many luxury condos and co-ops enforce. We hedge the typical adult weight intentionally. Adult size is not guaranteed, and we do not recommend selecting a Petite puppy based on a guaranteed weight threshold without veterinary consultation.

Anchor: side-table height
Mini
26 to 35 lb · 14 to 17 in

The most requested Stokeshire tier. Active families, urban professionals, suburban homes. Substantial enough for hiking and long walks, compact enough for travel and most living spaces.

Anchor: couch-armrest height
Medium
36 to 50 lb · 17 to 21 in

A larger-dog presence in a footprint most homes still accommodate. Family households with children, larger homes, and outdoor lifestyles. Comfortable on hikes; comfortable on a couch.

Anchor: kitchen-counter underside
Standard
51 lb and up · over 21 in

A substantial dog requiring room to move, a vehicle that fits a Standard crate, and a family comfortable with size. Confident family presence; needs daily activity and structure.

Anchor: thigh-high on a 5′8″ adult
Ultra
90 to 115+ lb · over 23 in

Reserved for households with experience with very large dogs and the space to support them well. Stokeshire does not specifically breed for Ultra outcomes. Selecting for maximum size compromises structural soundness.

Anchor: five-year-old at the shoulder
Block 6 · Common Questions

Sizing questionsfamilies ask first.

How big does a Mini Bernedoodle get?

A Mini Bernedoodle typically matures between 26 and 35 pounds and 14 to 17 inches at the withers. Individual puppies may finish 15 to 20 percent above or below the band. Final adult size is influenced primarily by the Poodle parent and is confirmed at maturity.

What is the difference between a Toy and a Petite doodle?

Toy doodles typically mature up to 15 pounds and under 13 inches at the withers. Petite doodles typically mature between 16 and 25 pounds and 12 to 15 inches. Petite is the lap-and-couch tier, slightly taller and substantially more substantial. Toy is the lap-only tier.

What determines a doodle’s adult size?

The Poodle parent is the primary determinant of adult size. A Toy or Mini Poodle parent produces a smaller class; a Standard Poodle parent produces a larger class. Generation (F1, F1B, multigen) and the non-Poodle parent influence weight distribution within the class. Nutrition during growth phases influences body condition, not adult skeletal size.

Can a doodle live in an apartment?

Yes, with the appropriate class. Toy and Petite doodles are well-suited to apartments and condos. Mini doodles are workable in larger apartments with an exercise plan. Medium, Standard, and Ultra require substantially more living space and a daily activity routine.

If a building enforces a weight limit, the Petite class is typically the largest that conforms to a 25-pound ceiling. Because adult size is typical and not guaranteed, we recommend veterinary consultation before selecting a doodle for a building with a strict weight rule.

Is a smaller doodle healthier?

Size and health are not directly correlated. Larger breeds tend to live shorter lives on average, but health outcomes depend more on the parent dogs’ genetic testing, the breeder’s health protocols, and the owner’s ongoing care than on size class. Stokeshire does not endorse extreme miniaturization. Selecting for the smallest possible size can compromise structural integrity and immune function.

Discuss size selection with your veterinarian, particularly if anyone in your household has health considerations that influence the choice.

What is the lifespan of a Stokeshire doodle?

Typically 12 to 15 years for most Stokeshire doodles. Smaller classes tend to live longer than larger classes. Ongoing wellness care, nutrition, and genetic testing all influence longevity.
