Meet The Stokes

We are James, Katie, and the Stokes family, a Wisconsin family rooted in purpose, faith, and a deep love for exceptional dogs. What began as a passion for pairing the right dog with the right family has grown into one of North America's most respected therapy-informed doodle programs.

Every puppy that leaves Stokeshire carries the imprint of our home. Raised alongside our children, shaped by structure, and sent into the world with confidence. This is not a kennel. It is a calling.

Full FAQ
We specialize in Australian Mountain Doodles, Golden Mountain Doodles, and Bernedoodles, with occasional Aussiedoodle, Goldendoodle, and Australian Mountain Dog litters. Each pairing is selected for health, temperament, and low-to-non-shedding coats, backed by DNA testing and low COI analysis. Furnished and unfurnished coat varieties are available and clearly identified in every litter.
Therapy-grade describes our development standard, not a certification. Our therapy-informed trainers raise every puppy through the Stokeshire Method, which includes 50+ hours of early socialization from birth through eight weeks, early neurological stimulation, and Stokeshire Puppy Aptitude Testing. A small percentage of puppies in each program earn the therapy-grade designation after temperament evaluation, and those puppies tend to be well suited for therapy, service prospect, or emotionally attuned companion roles. We breed and develop therapy candidates; we do not certify therapy dogs, and certification outcomes depend on continued training with the family and a certifying organization.
No dog is truly hypoallergenic, and we do not make allergy guarantees. Allergens come from dander, saliva, and urine rather than hair alone, so reactions vary from person to person. What we can do is breed intentionally for lower-allergen, low-to-non-shedding coats. Furnished puppies carry the furnishings gene associated with the classic doodle coat, which tends to shed less and may be more comfortable for many allergy-sensitive households. Unfurnished puppies do not carry the furnishings gene and shed more, so we never present them as lower-allergen. If allergies are a factor in your decision, our two-minute Allergy Quiz can help you understand which coat types may fit your household, and we recommend spending time with adult dogs of a similar coat type before committing.

Our puppies generally range from $4,000 to $6,500 depending on size, coat, and pairing, with Doodle School and Bootcamp training packages available as add-ons. A limited Red Fern Scholarship program exists for eligible therapy, service, and community placements. Pricing reflects health testing, early development hours, and lifetime breeder support rather than the puppy alone.
Puppies go home at 8 weeks old. If enrolled in Doodle School, they remain with our trainers for an additional 2 to 4 weeks of focused development before joining your family. Pickup is available in Wisconsin, or we can hand-deliver across the U.S. and to Canada and Mexico.
A $500 deposit secures your spot on the waitlist. If your preferred puppy is not available, your reservation rolls over to the next eligible litter. Deposits are refundable up until the date of conception, and full terms are provided in writing before you commit.
Yes. We hand-deliver anywhere in the continental U.S. via trusted pet nannies or Stokeshire team members, and delivery to Canada and Mexico is also available. We prioritize safety and keep your puppy calm throughout travel, and every shipment travels with a certificate of veterinary inspection.
