Grooming Is
Health Care

A doodle coat is a commitment. Left unbrushed, it mats. Matting pulls at the skin, hides irritation, and turns grooming into something a dog learns to dread. Riv&Eve exists so Stokeshire dogs learn the opposite.

Every groom is performed on-site by the same team that raises and trains our puppies, using the coat and temperament standards of the Stokeshire Method. Puppies in Doodle School are introduced to the table, the dryer, and the bath before they ever go home, so grooming tends to become a calm, familiar routine rather than a struggle.

What We Use

Products We Stock,
Use, and Stand Behind

smith and burton botanical grooming products with New Zealand native botanicals, stocked at Stokeshire
Approved Stockist & Affiliate Partner

smith&burton

A New Zealand botanical grooming line built on native plant extracts and Manuka honey. Plant-based, pH-balanced formulations designed for canine skin, from hydrating and soothing shampoos to waterless foam and purifying wipes.

We use smith&burton throughout the Stokeshire Method, including every Finishing Ritual, and stock the line for Stokeshire families. We position it as holistic external care: skin, coat, and barrier support, never a substitute for nutrition or veterinary treatment.

Grooming Questions

The Stokeshire doodle grooming guide Doodle Grooming Guide
How often should a doodle be professionally groomed?
+
Most doodles do well with a professional groom every 6 to 8 weeks, paired with brushing at home several times a week. Coat type, length, and lifestyle all shift that timeline, and we will recommend a cadence for your specific dog at your first appointment.
What products do you use?
+
We use smith&burton botanical grooming products, a plant-based New Zealand line we stock as an approved stockist, along with Pupwell grooming tools for coat maintenance. Both are chosen for gentle, pH-balanced formulations suited to doodle skin and coats.
When should a puppy have its first groom?
+
Early, positive exposure matters more than the haircut itself. Puppies in our Doodle School program are introduced to bathing, drying, and handling before go-home day. For puppies at home, a calm introductory session around 12 to 16 weeks generally sets the pattern for a lifetime of easy grooming.
My doodle is matted. Can you help?
+
Yes. Depending on severity, we will either work mats out gently or recommend a shorter clip and a reset, whichever is kinder to your dog. We will also show you the line-brushing technique that prevents matting between visits.
Do you groom dogs from outside the Stokeshire program?
+
Our spa serves Stokeshire dogs first, including Doodle School and boarding clients. Availability for other dogs varies by season. Reach out through our scheduling page and we will let you know current openings.
Can I buy the products you use?
+
Yes. As approved stockists of smith&burton and Pupwell we carry both lines for Stokeshire families, and every Finishing Ritual and go-home kit features the same products we use on the table.
