Are stokeshire Doodles Hypoallergenic?
At Stokeshire, we believe in setting clear and realistic expectations. While many breeders advertise “hypoallergenic dogs,” the truth is that no dog is truly hypoallergenic. Allergens are carried in a dog’s dander (dead skin cells), saliva, and urine—not just in their hair—so it’s impossible to guarantee a completely allergen-free experience.
That said, our Doodles do offer allergy-friendly qualities thanks to their Poodle heritage. Poodles are known for producing less dander and shedding less than many other breeds, and when crossed into our program, they can make suitable companions for families with mild to moderate pet allergies. Some Stokeshire puppies will shed very little, while others may drop a small amount of hair.
If someone in your home has severe allergies, we strongly recommend additional testing and spending time with Doodles in person before committing to our waitlist. For families most concerned about reducing shedding, we suggest considering backcrosses (F1B generations), which generally carry stronger non-shedding traits.
⚠️ Please note: This information applies to our Doodle crosses, not to any unfurnished puppies in our program, which may not carry the same allergy-friendly coat properties.
