Australian Mountain Doodles, Furnished and Unfurnished
The Pairing at a Glance
At Stokeshire Designer Doodles, every pairing is planned to support health, structure, and temperament. This planned pairing between Buttercup and Mack blends the intelligence and low-shedding influence of the Poodle, the loyal athleticism of the Australian Shepherd, and the gentle steadiness of the Bernese Mountain Dog.
The expected Australian Mountain Doodles should be affectionate, confident, and versatile, well suited to families seeking calm, highly trainable, emotionally intuitive companions. Coat furnishings are not a guarantee of allergy safety, and unfurnished puppies from this pairing should be considered traditional-coated.
Health & Genetics
Both parents are Embark DNA tested. Mack is clear on every tested genetic condition. Buttercup is clear on every tested condition except MDR1 Drug Sensitivity, where she carries one copy.
MDR1: Because Mack is clear, no puppy can inherit two copies. About half the litter is expected to be MDR1 carriers (one copy) and about half clear. Owners of carrier puppies should inform their veterinarian, since carriers can still react to certain medications.
Diversity: Buttercup has a genetic COI of 0 percent and Mack 12 percent, both with high immune (DLA) diversity. The pairing crosses an outbred dam with a sire of different lineage, supporting a low projected litter eCOI.
Coat & Color Profile
Expected coats run roughly half and half across the litter, ranging from wavy to straight, with a mix of furnished and unfurnished puppies. About 50 percent are expected to be furnished (F/I) and about 50 percent unfurnished (I/I).
Color Predictions:
- Both parents carry the tan-point (phantom) pattern (a/a) with full black pigment. No dilution, brown, or recessive red is expected, since neither parent carries those alleles.
- Buttercup is merle (M/m) and Mack is non-merle (m/m), so about 50 percent of the litter is expected to be merle and 50 percent non-merle, with no double-merle risk.
- Expected colors: black tri and blue-merle tri, all with tan points and limited white trim. White is expected to be minimal, so some puppies may present as phantom with little to no white.
- Merle puppies may have blue or partially blue eyes.
- About half the litter may be brown-carriers, relevant only for future breeding.
The Pairing
Mack (Sire), registered as SDD McElprang "Mack" von Feta's Apollo Stokes. 74.3% Bernese Mountain Dog and 25.7% Australian Shepherd. Heavy bone, deep chest, and the calm Bernese temperament the line is known for. 87 lb. Embark tested and clear on all screened conditions, with a genetic COI of 12 percent. View Embark Profile
Buttercup (Dam), registered as SDD Moxie's Rohan Buttercup Stokes. 50.8% Australian Shepherd, 35.0% Poodle, and 14.2% Bernese Mountain Dog. Athletic build, strong topline, and a furnished wavy coat. 34 lb. Embark tested with a genetic COI of 0 percent and high diversity; she carries one copy of the MDR1 variant. View Embark Profile
Result: Predicted puppies approximately 44.3% Bernese Mountain Dog, 38.3% Australian Shepherd, and 17.5% Poodle (expected averages; individual puppies vary). Expected adult size 55 to 65 lbs. Sturdy and well proportioned, suited to active family life or therapy prospects.
Temperament Outlook
The blend draws gentleness and loyalty from the Bernese Mountain Dog, intelligence and intuition from the Australian Shepherd, and adaptability and eagerness to please from the Poodle.
These puppies are best suited to homes that value connection, trainability, and companionship, the hallmarks of The Stokeshire Method™. Temperament is shaped through structured early development and is supported, not guaranteed.
