What are Aussie Mountain Doodles?

When you crossbreed an Aussiedoodle and a Bernedoodle, you will get a lovable Aussie Mountain Doodle puppy. An Aussiedoodle is a mixture of an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle. While a Bernedoodle is a combination of a Mixed Poodle and a Bernese Mountain Dog. Technically, this crossbreed is a combination of a Poodle, an Australian Shepherd, and a Bernese Mountain Dog. This designer dog is the product of basically two Doodle dogs.

Breeders can register their mixed breed at American Kennel Club, or at the Dog Registry of America. At the moment, there is no clear research to testify as to when the first Aussie Mountain Doodle puppy was produced. But, their parents have been in existence for years already.

The mix of these breeds makes Aussie Mountain Doodles a top favorite family pet. They are ideal companion dogs and are great around kids. But if you are often not around the house, this breed is not the ideal type to get. They have high anxiety issues and would want to always be around their owner. Appearance

Australian Mountain Doodles can weigh about 95 pounds with a height of 28 inches for a normal/standard size dog. They are considered to be medium-sized dogs. However, the mini Australian Mountain Doodle can only grow 22 inches in height and weighs less than half of its standard-size counterpart. Some breeders say that the miniature version appears to grow faster as compared to the normal ones. Within a year, a mini Australian Mountain Doodle can reach its full size. The medium-size ones could grow could take about a year and a half to be fully grown,

Their gorgeous coats can also vary in color: White, Blonde, Black, or Red. These coats also vary depending on their parent’s breed. Some puppies have curly coats. Others end up having wavy or straight coats. These coats could also be either short or long.

The puppies could end up having two colors or triple color coats. Phantom-colored Australian Mountain Doodles appear to have very minimal to nothing at all, white markings across their coats. A merle-colored breed will also have minimal to no white markings too. But this type has a single base color on its coat and patches of darker shade across its body.

This breed requires time for regular grooming. Daily brushing of their coat is a must to avoid knots and tangles from forming. Moisture their coat before using metal combs. The coats will have a tendency to break due to dry air. Wipe off the areas around their eyes to avoid tear stains. Also, make sure to bathe them at least once a week or if you deem it necessary to do so.

Lifespan

This breed can reach up to 15 years as their average life span. Australian Mountain Doodles have a better lifespan as compared to Bernese Mountain dogs. Although they have longer life spans as compared to other breeds, they are still susceptible to health issues. That is why it is important to get them properly vaccinated and with complete documents from the breeder.

Cost

Compared to Golden Mountain Doodles which can cost up to $3000, Australian Mountain Doodles can be more expensive. Some credible breeders are selling their litters for up to $7000 or higher. It can still go way higher depending on the parent’s breed, the breeder's reputation, the location of the breeding area, the color patterns of the breed, and several other factors.

If you are planning to adopt instead, make sure you have at least $1000 to get the puppy adopted and buy some essential stuff it needs. Your essential expenses will not only cover its food but for its vaccine, vet meds, vet visits, grooming essentials, and other supplies. The expenses could still go up depending on the size of the puppy you are about to adopt.

Aussie Mountain Doodles are smart dogs, loyal, and love to run and play around. Since this dog breed is a combination of great features, it is no wonder why this crossbreed is easy to have around.

Its Australian Shepherd lineage makes it one of the most intelligent dog breeds out there. It is also a preferred breed when herding sheep because of its intelligence and energy.

Bernese Mountain dogs are also known to be gentle giants. This breed is ideal for working across the farms of Switzerland. Farmers loved this breed and often used them to herd or watch over their farm animals.

Poodles are best known for their loyalty and eagerness to please their fur parents. Poodles are used by Germans during their hunt. They are also naturally intelligent dogs and are easily trainable.

The combination of these characteristics is evident in Aussie Mountain Doodles which are well-rounded, smart breeds. The only downside is that this breed is too nice even to strangers; they are not ideal as watchdogs, unlike their Australian Shepherd lineage. The upside is that they are great companions and guide dogs. Their lovable personality makes it ideal for them to be trained as therapy or service dogs.

It is also important that this dog is given enough daily exercise. You can do at least a 30-minute exercise like walking or jogging to keep your energy level in check. Make sure that playtime is suited to stimulate their mental health. As this is an intelligent dog, mentally stimulating toys would be such a treat!
