Understanding the Life Span of Golden & Australian Mountain Doodles

It would be interesting if we can determine the lifespan of our pets. Unfortunately, there is no certainty in terms of life expectancy for animals, similar to that of human beings too.

Golden Mountain Doodles (GMD) and Australian Mountain Doodle (AMD) are both large breed dogs. Dogs with bigger breed types have a shorter life span as compared to smaller breeds. There are also certain dog breeds which are known for their longevity.

The lifespan of either a GMD or an Australian Mountain Doodle (AMD) is highly influenced by several factors. This includes the genetic pool of their parents, the breeder's practices, the environment where the litter is being taken care of, the medication and vaccines the puppies are given, the variety of food they are fed, and many more.

The estimated lifespan for both the Golden and Australian Mountain Doodles is within 10-15 years. These puppies may eventually grow up and live longer than estimated or shorter than how we wanted. Depending on the circumstance, predicting how long these pets are going to be with us remains uncertain. Background screening of the sires and dames are done in order to lessen the chances of producing defective doodles. However, breeders are still not guaranteed that the puppies produced are free from defects.

However, it shouldn’t stop us from making sure that their health is our priority. To help them stay healthy and live longer, proper medication must be given. These doodles should also be given the right kind and amount of food, exercise, and play they need. Just like us, they need those tender loving care to stay as happy, healthy dogs.

Given their genetic makeup, AMD and GMD may be susceptible to some health issues. Some of the health problems for these doodles include: Bloating or gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), skin allergies, eye problems, hip and elbow dysplasia, cancer, sebaceous adenitis, heart problems, canine idiopathic vestibular balance disorder, and canine idiopathic epilepsy.

These health issues could be life treating if left unchecked. This is why it is important to get your pets from reputable dog breeders. Also make sure to check the puppies medical record before taking it home. At Stokeshire Designer Doodles, we have invested our time and dedicated our efforts to better understand and study our dogs’ lineage. Credible breeders like us have also taken time to do genetic tests to understand the dog’s genetic condition.

If you are getting puppies from us, Stokeshire offers a health guarantee. This means that if the puppy bought was found to be genetically defective following a preliminary examination within 2 days of purchase, your money gets refunded. This falls under a certain premise which you can read more about in this health guarantee section

Preventive measures such as regular exercise, mental stimulation, and a balanced diet, are equally important. Overweight or underweight dogs are prone to catching diseases. Similarly, dogs without enough exercise tend to be lazy and lethargic. Also, make sure that their sugar intake from fruits is at a low to moderate level. Take time to do research for credible breeders and get regular check-ups for your pets. Responsible dog owners make sure that their pet’s health is at the top priority.  Paying attention to their health also gives them a chance to live a longer, healthier life.

As much as we want to have our dogs live forever, that is not possible. The best thing to do is to make sure that we spend quality time with them while they are still alive. Make happy memories that you could cherish forever. Our pets are an important part of our family. They play an integral role in our lives which we may overlook at times. Show them that they are valued and appreciated and that they really are part of the family.
