Materials

  • Primary: Solid White Oak + White Oak veneer plywood (A-grade)
  • Veneer cut: Rift / Quarter preferred for straight, upscale grain
  • Exposed edges: Solid white oak lipping (preferred) or premium rift oak edge banding — no visible ply lines
  • Drawer front: Solid white oak, grain-matched to desktop

Finish

  • Target look: Warm White Oak (natural, non-yellow, non-gray)
  • Sheen: Matte / low satin (approx. 10–15%)
  • Finish system acceptable: Hardwax oil (Rubio-style) or satin pre-cat lacquer
  • Provide 6" × 6" finish sample for approval prior to full finishing

Construction & Joinery (No Visible Fasteners)

  • Waterfall miters at both legs to desktop; reinforce with Dominos or floating tenons and structural adhesive
  • Hidden internal frame/apron set back from edges; mechanical fastening from interior only
  • Desk must be rigid with no racking; concealed levelers permitted if required

Concealed Pencil Drawer

  • Single shallow drawer; front flush with 1/8"–3/16" reveal (shadow line)
  • Slides: Concealed undermount soft-close preferred; push-to-open or finger-reveal acceptable (no pulls)
  • Drawer assembly must maintain required 26.75" clearance (no protrusion below clearance plane)

Quality Checks (Required)

  • Grain direction: Vertical on legs; top grain left-to-right; drawer front aligned to top
  • No visible screws, plugs, brackets, or slide hardware from seated position
  • Miters tight and consistent; edges crisp and square
  • Final piece must read as a single monolithic form

Orthographic views with critical dimensions (not to scale). Contractor responsible for final shop drawings; build intent must match this specification.
