Puppies under 20 lbs travel in-cabin with a flight nanny as a carry-on passenger. Every flight includes a veterinary health certificate (CVI), airline-approved soft carrier, booked flight, and ground transportation to the departure airport.

Hawaii and Puerto Rico may require additional documentation or routing fees, including import permits, rabies compliance timelines, or extended flight itineraries. We provide a detailed estimate once we review your destination’s requirements.

Personal Pickup Option
You are welcome to fly in and take your puppy home as a carry-on. We will meet you at Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) at no additional cost.
Oversize Puppies (20 lb+)
Puppies too large for in-cabin travel ship via cargo on pet-safe, climate-controlled routes from Chicago O’Hare (ORD) or Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP). We handle all logistics, but recommend flexibility as weather conditions and airline policies can affect scheduling.

The Process

  1. Booking Confirmation. Request hand-delivery with your preferred dates and routes. Our Transport Team (Transport@wisconsindesignerdoodles.com) will confirm flight options and nanny availability.
  2. Flight Selection. We book the safest, most direct routes available, typically departing from CWA, MSP, or ORD. Your preferences are factored into every itinerary.
  3. Invoice & Payment. After you approve the flight plan, we book the ticket and send a QuickBooks invoice covering airfare, pet in-cabin fee, carrier, and any additional documentation. Payment is due upon receipt.
  4. Calendar Invitation. You receive a calendar invite with flight details, your assigned nanny’s contact information, and emergency numbers.
  5. Pre-Flight Check-In. Connect with your assigned nanny via text or email the evening before travel to finalize logistics and confirm alignment.
  6. Arrival & Pickup. Meet your puppy at the baggage claim area listed in your calendar invite. Your nanny will be there with your puppy and all required paperwork.
  7. Flight Updates. Subscribe to airline alerts or use the airline’s app for real-time tracking. Your nanny will also communicate any changes directly via text or WhatsApp.

Preparing for Pickup

  • Carrier or Crate. Bring a secure, airline-approved crate large enough for your puppy to stand, lie down, and turn comfortably. Very small puppies may be held in the car for bonding during the ride home.
  • Harness & Leash. Required for safe potty breaks at pet relief areas during travel and at the airport.
  • Food & Water. Bring a small supply. We limit in-flight intake to reduce the chance of accidents.
  • Puppy Pads & Towels. Pack extras for spills or accidents. Your puppy pack includes a few pee pads to get started.
  • Toys or Chews. Familiar comfort items help reduce travel stress and give your puppy something to focus on.
  • Car Window Shades. Consider shades to regulate temperature during the drive home, especially in warm weather.

Payment & Policy

  • Flights are billed at actual cost. We always seek the safest, most direct option that fits our nanny’s schedule.
  • All invoices include a 3% + $0.30 card processing fee for domestic credit or debit payments.
  • Wisconsin sales tax is assessed at checkout on applicable service items per WI law.
  • Book 7+ days in advance and receive a $50 early-bird credit applied to your invoice.
  • Travel insurance is included for every booked flight.
  • Once travel is confirmed, you receive a QuickBooks invoice link and a calendar invite with full flight details.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Where does my puppy sit during the flight?
Puppies under 20 lbs travel in the airplane cabin as a carry-on, seated safely in an airline-approved carrier beneath the nanny’s seat. Puppies over 20 lbs may travel via climate-controlled cargo on pet-safe routes.
02 How will I recognize the flight nanny at the airport?
Your nanny will contact you on travel day via SMS or WhatsApp and meet you at baggage claim. Their name, photo, and contact details are included in your calendar invite.
03 What happens if the flight is delayed or cancelled?
Your nanny will keep you updated in real time and handle rebooking if necessary. Your puppy’s safety and comfort are the first priority in any schedule change.
04 What is the pickup process at the airport?
Proceed to the baggage claim area listed in your calendar invite. The nanny will meet you there with your puppy, the carrier, and all required paperwork including the veterinary health certificate.
05 Does my puppy receive a health check before travel?
Yes. Every puppy travels with a valid veterinary health certificate (CVI) confirming they are fit to fly. This examination is completed within the required window before the departure date.
06 Can I see my puppy before boarding?
For safety and airline regulations, direct meetups before boarding are not possible. We can send photos of your puppy with the nanny prior to departure if requested.
07 Can I change the flight after booking?
Contact the Transport Team as soon as possible. We will accommodate changes based on airline availability. Change fees, if any, are passed through at cost. Travel insurance is recommended for added flexibility.
08 Are there additional fees beyond the nanny service?
Your invoice includes airfare (at cost), the airline pet in-cabin fee, a $50 carrier fee, and card processing. Additional fees may apply for extended routes, documentation, or oversize puppies requiring cargo. A detailed estimate is provided before booking.
09 How long is my puppy in transit?
Transit time depends on the flight itinerary. We prioritize direct flights when available. During layovers, the nanny walks your puppy at pet relief areas. Expect your puppy to be tired and possibly hungry on arrival.
10 How are food and water handled during the flight?
Puppies are fed and hydrated before departure. In-flight intake is intentionally limited to reduce the chance of accidents in the carrier. Your nanny ensures your puppy is comfortable and monitored throughout the journey.
11 Can I receive real-time travel updates?
Yes. You can join a text thread with our Transport Team and your assigned nanny for real-time updates. We also recommend subscribing to the airline’s app for independent flight tracking.
12 What happens if my puppy gets sick during travel?
The nanny will seek immediate veterinary attention if needed and keep you informed. Health issues during transit are extremely rare, and every puppy travels with a current health certificate confirming fitness to fly.
13 Who do I contact in an emergency?
Your calendar invite includes all emergency contacts: the Transport Team (Transport@wisconsindesignerdoodles.com), your assigned nanny’s direct number, and our program emergency line.
14 Do I need to prepare anything at my local airport?
Be at the designated baggage claim on time with a carrier, harness, and leash ready. All arrival instructions, terminal details, and meeting point information are included in your calendar invite.
15 What if my puppy is too large to fly in-cabin?
Puppies over 20 lbs may be transported via cargo from ORD or MSP on climate-controlled, pet-safe flights. We plan carefully to avoid cargo when possible and will discuss all options with you in advance.
