Quick Facts about Aussiedoodles

  • Most shed very little, thanks to their Poodle heritage. Regular brushing helps minimize any loose hair.

  • While no dog is 100% hypoallergenic, Toy Aussiedoodles are a great option for many allergy sufferers.

  • They typically weigh under 20lbs at Adult Weight. An average of both parents is a good prediction.

  • They are moderately active and do best with daily exercise and mental stimulation.

  • Aussiedoodles are friendly animals but they have a natural inclination to herd people and children. With proper training, this won’t be an issue. You can train them for basic obedience and also apply positive reinforcement. When it comes to breeding, choosing the ones with low herding drive is preferred. They are active animals although some of them can be laid-back at times.

Aussiedoodle may develop separation anxiety if they are left on their own for too long. This breed thrives around people. If you are traveling somewhere, make sure to plan out a work around to make sure they aren’t left alone for too long.

  • With proper care, they can live 12–15+ years.

  • Prices typically range between $3,500–$6,500 depending on lineage, coat color, size, and level of training. We provide top-quality puppies backed by health testing and lifelong support.

  • Like all breeds, they can be prone to certain genetic conditions. These may include hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), and epilepsy. All our parent dogs are tested to minimize these risks.

  • They thrive with structure, positive reinforcement, and socialization from a young age. Be ready for regular grooming, consistent training, and daily activity to keep them happy and healthy.

Aussiedoodle vs. Australian Mountain Doodle (AMD)

If you're considering a Mini Aussiedoodle, it's worth exploring the Mini Australian Mountain Doodle (Mini AMD) as well. While Aussiedoodles are a cross between an Australian Shepherd and a Poodle, our Mini AMDs are often created by crossing a Mini American Shepherd with a furnished Bernedoodle. This pairing offers a blend of traits that many families are seeking:

  • Improved Temperament Balance: The Bernese Mountain Dog lineage in the AMD adds a calmer, more laid-back personality to the high drive of the Aussie.

  • Softer Features: The AMD often has a stockier build, plush coats, and a teddy-bear look that many families love.

  • Exceptional Family Dogs: While Aussiedoodles are high-energy and brilliant, AMDs tend to be a bit more adaptable and easiergoing—perfect for homes with younger kids or those new to dogs.

  • Great Coats for Allergies: Furnished Bernedoodle genetics paired with the Mini American Shepherd make for low- to no-shedding coats, just like in Poodle crosses.

Our Mini AMDs are thoughtfully bred to provide a perfect balance of intelligence, beauty, calmness, and trainability—making them a wonderful alternative or complement to the traditional Mini Aussiedoodle.

Toy Aussiedoodle vs. Toy Australian Mountain Doodle: What's the Difference?

Toy Aussiedoodles and Toy Australian Mountain Doodles (Toy AMDs) are incredibly similar in temperament, appearance, and coat qualities—so much so that many families could be happy with either. Both are intelligent, affectionate, and allergy-friendly, making them excellent companions for families, singles, and therapy work.

The key difference?
Toy AMDs carry a percentage of Bernese Mountain Dog in their lineage, inherited through their Bernedoodle parent. This subtle genetic difference influences their build and temperament—typically giving them a slightly stockier frame and a calmer, more laid-back demeanor compared to the higher-drive Toy Aussiedoodle.

Because of the Bernese heritage, it’s also rare to produce Toy AMDs under 30 pounds, while Toy Aussiedoodles often stay in the 10–20 lb range. If size is a priority—especially for those who want a pup small enough to fly in-cabin or live comfortably in a small space—a Toy Aussiedoodle may be the better match.

At Stokeshire, we thoughtfully breed both with an emphasis on health, temperament, structure, and coat quality. We’re here to help you decide which breed best fits your family’s lifestyle and preferences—whether you're looking for a travel-sized sidekick or a slightly more cuddly lap companion.
