Exercise Yard Fencing Proposal

8-Foot Hybrid Fence System

Project Overview

This proposal outlines the installation of a secure, professional-grade dog exercise yard designed specifically for high-energy, athletic breeds such as Australian Shepherds, while maintaining a refined, client-facing appearance where the enclosure is visible from the home and driveway.

The design intentionally combines ornamental steel fencing on the client-facing side with vinyl-coated chain link fencing elsewhere to balance aesthetics, safety, and cost efficiency.

Height Justification (Why 8 Feet)

Australian Shepherds and similar herding breeds are:

  • Exceptional jumpers

  • Capable climbers

  • Highly intelligent and observant

An 8-foot fence:

  • Eliminates jumping and climbing escape risk

  • Prevents dogs from using rails or corners as launch points

  • Avoids future retrofits or height upgrades

  • Meets or exceeds best practices for professional kennels

This height ensures the enclosure is safe, future-proof, and operationally reliable.

Safety & Compliance

  • Designed to exceed Wisconsin ATCP exercise enclosure expectations

  • No gaps at ground level

  • Materials suitable for institutional and kennel use

  • Secure containment without reliance on supervision alone
