STATUS UPDATE

Nova Delivered – February 21, 2026

Nova delivered two puppies in this litter. After a difficult first week, we sadly lost both puppies despite significant support and intervention.

This is the hard side of breeding that rarely makes the Instagram reels. While uncommon in our program, nature can sometimes take an unexpected course.

We are currently reaching out to families on this list individually to discuss next steps and placement options.

We appreciate the patience, kindness, and understanding of the families who have been waiting for this litter.

28 July 2026: Heat Cycle Began
07 August 2026: Estimated Breeding / Conception Window
09 October 2026: Estimated Delivery Date
04 December 2026: Estimated Take-Home Date (8 weeks)

All dates are estimates. Timing of ovulation, breeding success, and delivery can vary slightly from litter to litter. Stokeshire closely monitors each pregnancy to ensure the healthiest possible outcome for both mother and puppies.

“Mack” × “Jada” — Stokeshire Pairing Summary

This pairing combines a Bernese-forward sire with a Poodle-dominant dam to produce a balanced doodle cross with strong coat potential, excellent genetic health outcomes, and diverse breed influence.

Health: 29/29 Clear eCOI: 2% Merle: ~50% Pigment: Black

Breed Composition

Mack 74.3% Bernese • 25.7% Aussie
Jada Poodle-forward mix
  • 42.8% Bernese Mountain Dog
  • 37.7% Poodle (Standard + Small)
  • 12.9% Australian Shepherd
  • 6.7% Golden Retriever

The resulting litter is expected to be a Bernese-leaning doodle cross with strong Poodle influence for coat structure, along with moderate Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever contributions.

Health Panel

Embark Panel 29 / 29 Clear
Risk No carriers predicted

All puppies are expected to inherit clear status for the Embark genetic health conditions tested, meaning no affected or carrier puppies are predicted from this pairing.

Genetic Diversity

Expected COI 2%
Sire COI 12%
Dam COI 4%

A lower coefficient of inbreeding is associated with improved genetic diversity and potentially longer lifespan. This pairing moves COI significantly downward relative to the sire’s genetic profile.

Color Genetics

  • 50% Solid Black
  • 50% Black Tan Point
  • 100% Black Pigment
  • 0% Dilute
Merle Modifier

Jada carries one copy of the merle allele (Mm*). Because Mack is non-merle, approximately half of the litter may inherit merle patterning.

Parti Carrier Status

Jada carries the spotting allele (Ssp), meaning some puppies may inherit carrier status for parti patterning. This does not necessarily produce visible parti expression.

Expected Coat

  • Poodle genetics strongly influence coat structure
  • Likely fleece or wavy coats
  • Moderate grooming needs

Overall Summary

  • Excellent health outlook
  • Very low expected inbreeding
  • Balanced Bernese-Poodle structure
  • Possible merle expression
  • Black-based pigment

Stokeshire Pairing Profile

“Bowser” × “Jada” — Stokeshire Pairing Summary

This proposed pairing combines a small Poodle-forward sire with a Poodle-dominant, merle-carrying dam to create a highly diverse doodle cross with strong coat potential, broad color range, and low projected inbreeding. Because this is part of a possible dual-sire plan, Bowser’s unique color and spotting genetics add an especially interesting layer to the litter outlook.

Health: 15 Clear eCOI: 3% Merle: ~50% possible Parti: both parents carry Pigment: black + brown possible

Breed Composition

Bowser 68% Small Poodle • 32% Bernese
Jada 75.4% Poodle • 13.3% Golden • 11.3% Bernese
  • 71.7% Poodle overall
  • 21.7% Bernese Mountain Dog
  • 6.7% Golden Retriever

This pairing is strongly Poodle-backed, with a smaller Bernese contribution and a light Golden Retriever influence through Jada. In practical terms, that points toward a more refined doodle structure, strong coat potential, and a generally lower-shed direction than a heavier Bernese-based cross.

Health Panel

Predicted Clear Results 15 conditions
No predictions available 2 breed relevant
Not breed relevant additional conditions listed

Embark predicts this pairing to be clear across 15 reported conditions in the Pair Predictor. Two additional conditions are listed as no prediction available; breed relevant, so those should be treated as areas to note rather than automatically describe as clear.

Included clear conditions

CDDY/IVDD, CMS, DM, Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, GM2 Gangliosidosis, GR-PRA1, GR-PRA2, ICH1, Muscular Dystrophy, NEWS, NCL5, Osteochondrodysplasia / Skeletal Dwarfism, Osteogenesis Imperfecta, PRA-prcd, and vWD Type I.

Breed-relevant no-prediction conditions

Ichthyosis (ICH2) and Retina Dysplasia / Optic Nerve Hypoplasia were listed by Embark as no predictions available; breed relevant.

Genetic Diversity

Expected COI 3%
Bowser COI 6%
Jada COI 4%

The projected eCOI for this pairing is 3%, which is lower than Bowser’s individual COI and slightly below Jada’s general range. That is a favorable diversity outcome and suggests this match moves the line in a healthy direction from an inbreeding standpoint.

Base Color Genetics

  • 19% solid black with black pigment
  • 19% solid brown with brown pigment
  • 19% black tan point with black pigment
  • 19% brown tan point with brown pigment
  • 13% recessive red with black pigment
  • 13% recessive red with brown pigment

This is a much broader palette than the Mack pairing. Because Bowser contributes b and both parents carry e, the litter can produce both black-based and brown-based puppies, including tan point and recessive red outcomes.

Locus summary

E: 25% EE, 50% Ee, 25% ee
K: 50% KBky, 50% kyky
A: 50% atat, 50% ata
B: 50% Bb, 50% bb
D: 100% DD

Merle & Parti Notes

Jada carries merle (Mm*) Jada carries parti Bowser carries parti
Merle outlook

Because Jada carries merle (Mm*) and Bowser is being treated as non-merle here, approximately 50% of the litter may inherit merle. Since Embark’s automatic color prediction does not include merle, that modifier must be layered manually over the base colors above.

Parti / spotting outlook

You noted that both Bowser and Jada carry parti. That makes spotting far more relevant in this pairing than in the Mack cross. At minimum, the litter should be expected to produce a meaningful number of parti carriers, and depending on each parent’s exact spotting genotype, visible white patterning may be a real possibility in some puppies.

Because coat modifiers like merle and spotting are not fully represented in Embark’s main coat predictor, visible outcomes can be more complex than the base-locus percentages alone.

Coat Direction

  • Strong Poodle influence suggests coats should trend doodle/fleece rather than Bernese-heavy
  • Likely moderate to higher grooming needs depending on furnishing and texture inheritance
  • This pairing may produce especially marketable variety because of the wider color and pattern range

From a program standpoint, Bowser × Jada offers more visual diversity than Mack × Jada. It is especially interesting for a dual-sire concept because it creates a noticeably different color lane while still holding strong diversity metrics.

Overall Summary

  • Strong health outlook with 15 clear predicted conditions
  • Low projected inbreeding at 3%
  • Poodle-forward composition with Bernese and Golden influence
  • Broadest color range of the two pairings
  • Possible black, brown, tan point, recessive red, merle, and parti-related outcomes

If Mack × Jada gives you a more classic black / phantom lane, Bowser × Jada is the more visually expansive lane—bringing brown pigment, recessive red potential, merle overlay, and stronger parti relevance into play.
