Stokeshire Pairing Profile
We publish the whole panel, including the parts that cost us sales. Both parents' complete genetic results, the coat and color predictions this cross produces, and the trade-offs every family should understand before applying. Read the color section first. Half of this litter will be red or apricot, and no puppy can be tricolor.

Rae
Dam
- Conditions tested
- 255, one carrier result
- Breed-relevant, of those
- [ PENDING ]
- Ichthyosis, ICH1 (PNPLA1)
- One copy, carrier
Rae carries one copy of the Golden Retriever variant for Ichthyosis (ICH1). ICH1 is a skin-scaling condition that only develops when a dog inherits two copies. Bowser has no copy detected, so no puppy in this litter can be affected. About half will be carriers like Rae. That matters only if a puppy is ever bred, and then only to another carrier.
Bowser
Sire
- Conditions tested
- 215, no disease variant
- Breed-relevant, of those
- [ PENDING ]
- ALT Activity (GPT)
- One copy
One copy of the ALT Activity variant. This is not a disease and not a carrier status for one. Dogs with it tend to run a lower baseline ALT, a liver enzyme measured on routine bloodwork, so a reading inside the normal range could still be elevated for that dog. About half of this litter will inherit one copy. We disclose it so your veterinarian can read future bloodwork correctly.
Genetic testing does not diagnose disease and does not replace veterinary evaluation. Results reflect tested variants only. Discuss any result with a licensed veterinarian.
Inbreeding and Diversity
No Stokeshire pairing exceeds 15% estimated coefficient of inbreeding. We publish the figure on every pairing so it can be checked against the specific dogs being bred.

Pairing eCOI
Calculated on this cross
- Estimated litter eCOI
- [ PENDING ]
- Against the 15% ceiling
- [ PENDING ]
A litter eCOI is not the average of the parents' two figures. It is set by how much ancestry the two dogs share. Rae and Bowser are both about 70% Poodle, so the number is calculated on the pair, not inferred from the pieces.
Immune Gene Diversity
DLA class II
- Rae
- High diversity, DRB1 and DQA1/DQB1
- Bowser
- No diversity, DRB1 and DQA1/DQB1
Bowser carries two identical copies at both immune-gene regions. Every puppy inherits one set from each parent, so the litter's immune-gene diversity depends mostly on what Rae contributes, and her results show high diversity. We publish Bowser's result because it is the less flattering one.
Predicted Puppy Ancestry
Rae is a Goldendoodle. Bowser is a Bernedoodle. Their puppies are Golden Mountain Doodles.
The Litter
Expected composition
- Poodle 70.7%
- Bernese Mountain Dog 16.0%
- Golden Retriever 13.3%
This is a Poodle-heavy Golden Mountain Doodle. Rae is 73.4% Poodle and Bowser is 68.0%, so their puppies land near 71% Poodle, with Bernese and Golden Retriever making up the rest in roughly equal parts. That lines up with the fully furnished, curly-to-wavy coats this litter produces. Expect a lighter-boned dog than a Bernese-heavy cross.

Coat
Three separate genes decide what a doodle coat actually does. They are reported separately here because two of them use the same C and T letters and are routinely confused. Read all three.
Furnishings
RSPO2
Both parents are FF, furnished with no unfurnished copy to pass on.
Every puppy in this litter will have the doodle face. None will be unfurnished and none will carry an unfurnished copy, so this result also holds for their own future puppies on the furnishings gene.
Curl
KRT71
Rae is CT, wavy. Bowser is TT, curly.
| Sire ↓ Dam → | C | T |
|---|---|---|
| T | CT wavy | TT curly |
| T | CT wavy | TT curly |
No puppy in this litter can be straight-coated. Bowser gives every puppy a curl allele. Plan on regular professional grooming for all of them, and more often for the curly half.
Shedding
MC5R
Rae is CT. Bowser is CC. Half the litter will be CT and half CC.
In this litter the shedding gene is the smaller story. Furnishings drive shedding in doodles more than MC5R does, and every puppy here is furnished. Expect the whole litter to tend toward lower shedding. No doodle is shed-free, and an allergy decision should be made with your doctor, not with a genotype.
Color Genetics
Two genes in this pairing override most of the others. Read the E locus and the K locus first, because they decide what can show at all.
Red Masking
E locus, MC1R
Rae is ee, which is why she is a cream dog with no dark hair. Bowser is Ee.
| Sire ↓ Dam → | e | e |
|---|---|---|
| E | Ee pigment shows | Ee pigment shows |
| e | ee red | ee red |
About half the litter will be red or apricot, with no dark hair anywhere. On those puppies any merle present is still in the DNA but invisible in the coat. The other half show their pigment as black, chocolate, blue merle or chocolate merle.
Solid Color, No Tan Points
K locus, A locus
- K locus KBKB dam, kyky sire
- 100% KBky
- A locus aa dam, atat sire
- 100% ata, hidden
No puppy in this litter can be tricolor. Rae gives every puppy dominant black, which covers the tan-point pattern completely. The classic Bernese tri, with rust on the cheeks, brows and legs, is not possible here. If that look is the reason you want a Golden Mountain Doodle, this is not your pairing.
Black or Chocolate
B locus, D locus
- B locus bb dam, Bb sire
- 50% Bb, 50% bb
- D locus DD both parents
- 0% dilute
Half the litter is black-based and half is chocolate-based. On the red puppies the same split shows up as nose color: half with a black nose, half with a brown nose. None are dilute, so there is no silver, charcoal or lilac in this litter. The blue in blue merle is merle on a black coat, not dilution.
Merle
M locus, PMEL
Rae is M*m, one merle allele that does not show in her coat because her cream coat masks it. Bowser is mm, no merle.
A standard genetic panel confirms that a merle allele is present but not its length, and length decides how strongly merle shows. Because Rae is cream, her own coat cannot tell us. We confirm each black-based and chocolate-based puppy's pattern as it develops. There is no double merle risk in this litter, because Bowser carries no merle.
Roughly a quarter of this litter will be red puppies carrying merle that cannot be seen. Bred to another merle years from now, that is how double merle litters happen, with the hearing and eye defects that can come with them. Any puppy from this pairing considered for breeding must be tested for merle and allele length first.
White Spotting
S locus, MITF
Both parents are Ssp, parti carriers.
| Sire ↓ Dam → | S | sp |
|---|---|---|
| S | SS no parti | Ssp carrier |
| sp | Ssp carrier | spsp parti |
About a quarter of the litter will be parti, with broad patches of white over any base color, including merle. About half will be carriers that may show modest white on the chest, feet or muzzle, and about a quarter will carry no parti at all. Parti on a red or apricot puppy can be subtle, because white against apricot shows less contrast.
The Honest Summary
What This Pairing Does Well
Strengths
- Every puppy furnished, with the full doodle face. No unfurnished and no straight coats.
- No puppy can be affected by any condition tested. The one carrier result has no match on the other side.
- Both parents under 8% COI.
- Real color range: black, chocolate, blue merle, chocolate merle and red or apricot, with parti possible on all of them.
- Merle without double merle risk, because only one parent carries it.
- A medium-sized dog, for families who want a Golden Mountain Doodle without a Standard's size.
What You Need to Weigh
Trade-offs, stated plainly
- No puppy can be tricolor. The Bernese rust markings are not possible in this litter.
- About half will be red or apricot. Black, chocolate and merle show only on the other half.
- Half will be curly. Every puppy needs regular grooming. The curly half needs the most.
- Size will vary. The parents are 30 lb apart, so adults may land anywhere from the top of Mini to the bottom of Standard.
- About a quarter will be red puppies carrying hidden merle. Any puppy considered for breeding needs a merle test first.
- Half will carry ICH1 and half will carry the ALT variant. Neither affects the puppy's own health. Your vet should know about ALT.

Size honesty
This pairing is planned for Medium adults. Adult weight is an estimate rather than a guarantee and may vary based on parentage, sex, generation, and individual development.
When parents are this far apart in size, a litter spreads wider than usual. Some puppies may finish near Bowser's size and some near Rae's. If you need a dog under 35 lb, or you need a dog you can count on reaching 50 lb, tell us before you apply so we can match you to the right puppy or the right litter.

“Mack” × “Jada” — Stokeshire Pairing Summary
This pairing combines a Bernese-forward sire with a Poodle-dominant dam to produce a balanced doodle cross with strong coat potential, excellent genetic health outcomes, and diverse breed influence.
Breed Composition
- 42.8% Bernese Mountain Dog
- 37.7% Poodle (Standard + Small)
- 12.9% Australian Shepherd
- 6.7% Golden Retriever
The resulting litter is expected to be a Bernese-leaning doodle cross with strong Poodle influence for coat structure, along with moderate Australian Shepherd and Golden Retriever contributions.
Health Panel
All puppies are expected to inherit clear status for the Embark genetic health conditions tested, meaning no affected or carrier puppies are predicted from this pairing.
Genetic Diversity
A lower coefficient of inbreeding is associated with improved genetic diversity and potentially longer lifespan. This pairing moves COI significantly downward relative to the sire’s genetic profile.
Color Genetics
- 50% Solid Black
- 50% Black Tan Point
- 100% Black Pigment
- 0% Dilute
Merle Modifier
Jada carries one copy of the merle allele (Mm*). Because Mack is non-merle, approximately half of the litter may inherit merle patterning.
Parti Carrier Status
Jada carries the spotting allele (Ssp), meaning some puppies may inherit carrier status for parti patterning. This does not necessarily produce visible parti expression.
Expected Coat
- Poodle genetics strongly influence coat structure
- Likely fleece or wavy coats
- Moderate grooming needs
Overall Summary
- Excellent health outlook
- Very low expected inbreeding
- Balanced Bernese-Poodle structure
- Possible merle expression
- Black-based pigment

Items the report still notes worth being aware of
-
Ichthyosis (ICH2)
Listed as no prediction available; breed relevant.
-
Retina Dysplasia and/or Optic Nerve Hypoplasia
Listed as no prediction available; breed relevant.
These were listed on the report as breed relevant but without a pairing prediction result. That does not mean there is a known problem — only that the predictor did not return a clear outcome for those items.
Genetic Diversity (COI)
COI is a genetic estimate of relatedness. In general, a lower COI supports stronger diversity. This pairing remains comfortably low and trends in a healthy direction.
Note: COI is one of several factors considered alongside health testing, temperament, and structure.
