What Is a Pet Flight Nanny?

A pet flight nanny is a professional who personally escorts animals on commercial flights, ensuring they travel safely, comfortably, and stress-free. Instead of shipping pets as cargo, a flight nanny travels in the airplane cabin with your puppy or dog, providing hands-on care and constant supervision from departure to arrival.

Trusted pet flight nannies coordinate with airlines, handle all required paperwork (such as international health certificates, USDA endorsements, and customs clearance), and make sure pets stay hydrated, comfortable, and calm throughout the journey. Some also offer additional services such as basic grooming, potty breaks during layovers, and post-flight hand-delivery directly to your door or airport terminal.

For families importing a puppy from the United States to Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand, a flight nanny helps navigate complex travel requirements — including rabies vaccination timing, ISO microchipping, parasite treatments, and quarantine or customs rules — making the process smooth and worry-free.

International Puppy Transport — Flight Nanny Service (MSP & Chicago)

At Stokeshire Designer Doodles, we provide safe, stress-free international puppy delivery to families in Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Our trusted flight nannies personally escort your puppy in the airplane cabin whenever possible, avoiding cargo whenever we can, and manage every step of the travel process for you.

The Process

  1. Booking Confirmation: Once you reserve your international flight nanny with your preferred dates and airports (most flights depart from Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP) or Chicago O’Hare (ORD)), our Transport Team will email you (Transport@wisconsindesignerdoodles.com) to confirm details and match availability.
  2. Flight Preferences: We aim to book the shortest, most direct flights for your puppy’s comfort. When possible, we prefer to depart from CWA Central Wisconsin Airport or route through MSP and Chicago for better scheduling and pet-friendly connections.
  3. Confirmation & Invoice: After you approve the proposed flight details, our team books the itinerary and sends a detailed invoice (including flight cost, pet-in-cabin fees, carrier charges, and any applicable international documentation costs). Payment is due upon receipt.
  4. Calendar Invitation: Once booked, you’ll receive a calendar invite with your puppy’s flight itinerary, airline details, and contact information for the assigned nanny or manny escorting your dog.
  5. Pre-Flight Check-In: The evening before departure, we encourage you to text or email your assigned nanny/manny to confirm meet-up logistics and ensure everyone is aligned.
  6. Arrival & Pickup: On arrival, meet your puppy at the baggage claim area associated with the flight. All pick-up instructions and contact numbers are included in the calendar invite.
  7. Flight Updates: Subscribe to airline notifications or use the airline’s app for real-time delay or cancellation alerts. Your nanny will also communicate travel changes via SMS or WhatsApp.

Preparing to Transport Your Puppy

  • Carrier/Crate: Choose an airline-approved soft crate large enough for your puppy to stand, lie down, and turn comfortably. Passengers may hold very small puppies during car rides to and from the airport.
  • Harness & Leash: Secure your puppy during potty breaks in pet relief areas.
  • Water & Food: Bring small portions; we limit intake during flights to reduce accidents.
  • Puppy Pads/Towels: Your Stokeshire puppy pack includes pads to keep the crate clean.
  • Toys or Chews: Familiar items help soothe and distract your puppy during travel.
  • Window Shades: Helpful if you’ll be driving after pickup, keeping your puppy comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where will my puppy sit during the flight? Puppies under 20 lbs ride in-cabin under the nanny’s seat for safety and comfort.
  • How will I recognize the flight nanny? Your nanny will contact you via SMS or WhatsApp on travel day and meet you at the baggage claim area. Their contact details appear in the calendar invite.
  • What if flights are delayed or canceled? Our nannies proactively manage rebooking and keep you updated in real time.
  • Can I see my puppy before departure? For safety and airline rules, direct pre-boarding meetups aren’t usually possible, but we’ll send photos or videos before the flight if requested.
  • Will my puppy have a health certificate? Yes — every international puppy travels with a veterinary health certificate (CVI). For Mexico, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, additional paperwork such as USDA endorsement, rabies timing, and microchip registration may apply.
  • What if my puppy is over 20 lbs? Larger puppies may need to fly via cargo from MSP or Chicago. We avoid cargo when possible but ensure comfortable, climate-controlled transport if required.
  • How is feeding and hydration handled? We limit food and water during flights to prevent accidents. Puppies eat and hydrate normally the day before and after landing.
  • Can I change my flight date? Notify the Transport Team as soon as possible — we’ll accommodate if possible. Travel insurance is recommended for flexibility.
  • What happens if my puppy gets sick mid-flight? Our nannies are trained to monitor health and will seek veterinary care if needed. We rarely encounter issues due to careful pre-flight preparation.
  • Who do I contact in an emergency? Use the contact info in your calendar invite: our Transport Team (Transport@wisconsindesignerdoodles.com), the assigned nanny or manny, or our emergency number.
Payment & Legal Notes:
• Flights are billed at actual cost (we always search for the most direct and pet-friendly options).
• Invoices include a 3% processing fee for domestic card payments.
Wisconsin sales tax applies to all reimbursed travel and booking costs.
• Insurance is included for every booked flight.
